Dorian, Doris Kathalyn, 91, beloved pastor’s wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, opened her eyes in Heaven on September 24, 2018. Doris was born on February 1, 1927 in Kingsport, Tennessee. She graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and Carson Newman University where she met the love of her life. After her marriage to Rev. Gordon D. Dorian and attending Southwestern Seminary, they moved to Wichita, Kansas to pastor Olivet Baptist Church (for 35 years). After receiving her master’s degree in Education, Doris taught Physical Education at Derby Middle School in the 1960s and 1970s. A loving mother and homemaker, Doris was a remarkable southern cook and enjoyed entertaining in her home for family and friends. She loved traveling the world on mission trips with her husband and enjoyed sports and reading. She was full of grace, generosity and compassion for her church and the community. She dearly loved her husband and her three children and still had abundant love for others. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished their hugs and kisses! We will greatly miss her smile, laughter and amazing wisdom. She leaves us a beautiful legacy of Faith and JOY! Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Eva Overbey and her loving husband of 68 years, Gordon D. Dorian.
